15 Stunning Nigerian Wedding Guest Dresses for 2024
Wedding guests are an essential part of a wedding, they add to the overall beauty, aesthetics and splendour of the event.
The bride and the groom are the stars of the day, but as a guest, you also need to bring in your "A" game.
This is not saying you need to outshine the couple, because it's their day and you've got to let them Shine.
Instead, this is saying you need to look your best as a guest, show off your personal style and make a statement with your outfit.
We all know how vibrant and elaborate Nigerian weddings are right, and you wouldn't like to be left out.
Today, I'll be sharing some tips and wedding outfit inspirations for you as a Nigerian wedding guest.
Tips For Wedding Guests Attending A Nigerian Party.
1. Dressing
The most important thing when it comes to dressing for a Nigerian Wedding is comfort.
I always emphasize on comfort and I think everyone should wear what they're comfortable in, but that doesn't mean you can't be stylish, elaborate, elegant or luxurious.
Some wedding guests outfit are very loud, some are subtle, and some are just quiet, it all depends on your personality really.
That being said, you have to make sure you dress responsibly. Because the saying "Dress how you want to be addressed" is very true.
If you're a member of the Asoebi, please stick to the colours and add your personality to it.
"Aosebi" is a uniform fabric choosing by the couple for guests or family or friends that will be attending the event.
2. Traditions
Despite everyone in Nigeria acting woke, tradition in Nigeria is still very much intact. There are so many traditional rights at Nigerian weddings, so if you're a guest, try your best to respect the traditions, support and participate as much as you can.
3. Gifts
Gifts are popular in Nigerian wedding parties, so come prepared and bring in your gifts.
Anything nice and thoughtful, a car or a private jet, would be nice lol.
Ok seriously, anything you think is special and what you can afford.
Alternatively, you can bring in cash gift, as some people prefer cash gifts instead.
Give gifts according to your pocket, you don't have to borrow or go above and beyond to impress no one, just be your beautiful and genuine self.
4. Timing
There's something we call "African Time" lol.
This is when Guests arrives at the event at a later time, different from the official event time.
Nigerian guests never arrives at the party on time, it's just a bad habit that has become normal overtime.
As a Nigerian wedding guest, especially if you're not Nigerian or if you're attending a Nigerian wedding for the first time, you may find this surprising, but you just have to be patient.
It's wrong, yeah, but it's now part of the culture lol, so please relax, scroll through your phone and just wait :-)
5. Enjoy
Final step is to enjoy the party, be yourself, join photo sessions if you like, dance to beautiful Nigerian musics and connect with other guests.
Basically just have fun and enjoy the experience.
Not to forget the food, especially the Famous Nigerian Jollof, eat very well and drink responsibly.
Some wedding parties offer take outs, don't be shy, take it home, it's a normal thing lol.
