15 Modern Nigerian Traditional Wedding Outfits for the Trendy Bride.
Nigeria Wedding Tradition
I love weddings and I just can't get enough of them. But Nigerian traditional Weddings or traditional marriage ceremonies are my favourite. And I'll tell you why.
The reason is because it showcases the rich culture of Nigeria and the tribes of the couple involved. In Nigeria, each tribe have their own cultures and traditions and that also includes way of dressing.
When two people come together from different backgrounds or same backgrounds to get married, it's not just two people coming together, it's an absolute blend of families, cultures and traditions, plus a blend of breathtaking colours and memorable events.
Bridal Elegance
In Nigerian weddings, everyone expects the bride to always look stunning, from her head to her toe. People look forward in anticipation to the bride's outfit, even the groom's outfit too, but the bride's is always the major centre of attention.
This is why lots of brides always try their best to stand out and be unique, to leave a lasting impression on the audience.
Gele, Lace Fabric and George Wrapper
The Nigerian bridal outfit typically consists of 'Gele' which is a headtie that's skillfully tied on the brides head, then there's George wrapper elegantly tied on her waist, while the blouse or top is usually a lace fabric, beautifully sewn.
As I said earlier, different tribes have their different ways of dressing, but this is like the most popular type, which is why it is the focus on this blog post.
Over the years, this particular outfit has evolved significantly with different twists here and there but it's still the same foundation.
Colours and Styles
So a Nigerian bride can decide to use the same colour all round for her outfits, from her 'Gele' down to her shoes or use different colours that blend beautifully together.
But these days, coming up with unique and beautiful styles or knowing how to blend colours beautifully has become more difficult as almost everything has been done, which is why in today's blog post, I'm going to be sharing 10 beautiful and unique images, to help Nigerian brides who may be confused and have run out of styles or even if you just want to feast your eyes on beautiful images, or anything else, just feel free to take a look.
